HomeDirectNG is a digital property rental platform operated by Jerdex Technologies LTD, a company incorporated under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Throughout this Privacy Policy, "we," "us," "our," "HomeDirectNG," and "the Platform" refer to Jerdex Technologies LTD and the HomeDirectNG application and website.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application, website at myhomedirectng.com, and related services.
By creating an account or using our Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy, in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: Full name, email address, phone number, role (landlord or tenant), and profile photo
- Identity verification: National Identification Number (NIN) submitted for verification purposes
- Bank Verification Number (BVN): Collected from landlords solely to verify ownership of the payout bank account before disbursements are made
- Identity verification biometrics: A live facial scan captured during identity verification, processed by our verification provider to confirm you match the photo on file for your government ID. This data is processed by our verification provider and is not stored on HomeDirectNG's servers.
- Property information (landlords): Property address, description, pricing, photos, and availability
- Payment information: Bank account details for payouts (landlords); payment card details processed securely by Paystack
- Communications: Messages sent through our in-app chat system
- Agreement data: Information included in digital rental agreements signed on the Platform
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- IP address and approximate location (state/city level)
- Precise location (GPS): Collected with your permission when you use map features, to show your position and nearby listings. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; the app remains usable without it.
- App usage data including screens visited, features used, and session duration
- Push notification tokens for sending you alerts
- Error logs and crash reports to improve app stability
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Prembly IdentityPass: NIN and BVN verification results, including name, date of birth, and gender, from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and banking-sector BVN records
- Paystack: Payment status and transaction references
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- Account creation and management: To create and maintain your HomeDirectNG account
- Identity verification: To verify your identity through NIN and selfie verification, ensuring the safety of all platform users
- Property listings: To display verified property listings to prospective tenants
- Booking and inspections: To facilitate property inspection bookings between landlords and tenants
- Payment processing: To process rental payments securely via Paystack and disburse them according to our payment protection schedule, as described in our Terms of Service
- Digital agreements: To generate and store legally binding digital rental agreements
- Communication: To enable in-app messaging between landlords and tenants
- Notifications: To send you important updates about your bookings, payments, and agreements via push notifications and email
- Platform safety: To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, scams, and policy violations
- Legal compliance: To comply with applicable Nigerian laws and regulations
- Platform improvement: To analyse usage patterns and improve our services
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share your data only in the following circumstances:
4.1 Between Platform Users
When you book an inspection or enter into a rental agreement, relevant information (name, verified status, contact details) is shared between the landlord and tenant involved in that transaction.
4.2 Service Providers
- Supabase: Our database and authentication infrastructure provider
- Paystack: Payment processing services. Paystack is a payment service provider licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
- Prembly IdentityPass: NIN and BVN data verification services
- Cloudinary: Property photo storage and delivery
- Google Maps Platform: Map display and location services within the app
- Expo: Mobile app delivery infrastructure and push notification delivery
All service providers are contractually bound to process your data only as instructed and to maintain appropriate security standards.
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, including the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), or other competent authorities.
4.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets by Jerdex Technologies LTD, your data may be transferred to the successor entity, subject to the same privacy protections.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide our services. Specifically:
- Account data: Retained for the duration of your account and up to 3 years after account closure
- NIN verification records: Retained for 5 years in accordance with Nigerian financial regulations
- Transaction and payment records: Retained for 7 years in accordance with Nigerian financial and tax regulations
- Rental agreements: Retained for 7 years or the duration required by applicable law
- Chat messages: Retained for 2 years from the date of the last message
- Identity verification biometrics: Not retained by HomeDirectNG at all — this data is processed by our verification provider and never stored on our servers
When data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it.
6. Your Rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements
- Right to object: Object to certain types of data processing
- Right to data portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw consent for processing based on consent at any time

Deleting your account. You can delete your HomeDirectNG account at any time:
- In the app: go to Profile → Delete Account. Your account is deactivated immediately, and permanently deleted after a 30-day grace period during which you can cancel the deletion by logging back in.
- Without the app: submit a request at myhomedirectng.com/delete-account.html.
Deletion cannot be completed while a booking or payment is in progress, you'll need to wait until it's completed, cancelled, or expired first. Once processed, your name, contact details, and identity documents are permanently erased. Records of completed rentals and payments are kept for the periods set out in Section 5 above, as required by law, but are no longer linked to your name.
7. Security
Jerdex Technologies LTD implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or alteration. These include:
- End-to-end encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS)
- Row-level security and access controls on our database
- NIN data is never stored in plain text
- Payment card data is never stored on our servers. This is handled entirely by Paystack
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Staff access to personal data is limited to those who need it
While we take every reasonable precaution, no system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at enquiry@myhomedirectng.com.
8. Children's Privacy
HomeDirectNG is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will notify you via the app or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
